Its original owner removed the cap's interior wire stiffener, allowing the cap to be reshaped and \"crushed\" into a silhouette more popular among American servicemen. It is constructed of a summer weight khaki material and features a russet brown leather visor and chinstrap. The front is decorated with a gold-plated brass officer's device. Unfortunately, his WWI exploits are unknown to us at this time; however, during WWII he served In the Chemical Warfare Service, based at Camp Sibert in Alabama. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJones died on March 15, 1981, at the age of 91 and is buried at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
