Description
This original WWII photograph captures two U.S. Army Air Force men standing in front of the Westwall, or Siegried Line, a German defensive structure bult during the late 1930s spanning Germany's entire western border from the Netherlands down to Switzerland. We can see both men are outfitted with B-10 flying jackets, while the man on the left is wearing a wool garrison cap and the man on the right has a B-2 winter flying cap. Interestingly, the man on the left is armed with a non-regulation revolver with ivory grips. Unfortunately, there is no information inscribed on the photograph's reverse other than "£634". The photograph measures approximately 7 inches wide and 5 inches tall.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
