Description

This is an original Korean War U.S. rear seam swivel loop M-1 helmet shell. It was manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. of Detroit, Michigan and exhibits a lot number of "M 94A". "A"-suffix lot numbers were used during McCord's 1951-58 contract. With its relatively low lot number, this particular example likely dates towards the start of that production run. Beneath its original field repaint is hand painted captain's rank insignia. In addition to the original field repaint, the helmet retains its original black painted steel chinstrap brackets, denoting reissue for service in the Vietnam War.

This helmet shell is in fair condition, with wear consistent with that of a combat-used example. Unfortunately, its paint is heavily worn, and its chinstraps are missing.
