Description

This auction consists of four original Korean War USMC photographs depicting stateside training. The subject is wearing fatigues complete with lieutenant's rank insignia pins and a nametape reading "KEITH". Atop Lt. Keith's head is an M-1 helmet set with an apparent WWII-produced USMC camouflage cover, as it is lacking an "Eagle, Globe & Anchor" stamping. Lt. Keith is armed with an M1 Garand and bayonet. Around his waist is an M1923 cartridge belt with canteen and carlisle bandage first aid pouch. Handwritten at the bottom of each photograph are the following captions:

  • "Nuff of this rot."
  • "Zero'ed in"
  • "You've had it!"
  • "grrrr!"

The photographs' reverses show they were developed on Kodak Velox Paper, denoting 1950s production. Each photograph measures approximately 3 1/4 inches wide and 4 5/8 inches tall (alternate for the example with landscape orientation).

Provenance

In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. These were among those acquisitions.
