Description

This is an original pre-WWII U.S. Army M1926 service jacket manufactured by the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot. It is constructed of melton wool material. It retains its original 3rd Cavalry Division shoulder sleeve insignia, matching set of "X"-stitched private rank insignia patches, three gold war service chevrons on the wearer's left cuff (denoting one and a half years of overseas service in the "Zone of Advance", likely during the Mexican Expedition and Philippines), followed by three diagonal hash marks, each denoting three years of service, for nine years total. Its collar is decorated with original "U.S., 11" and cavalry headquarters collar discs. Secured below are two distinctive unit insignias of the 11th Cavalry Regiment. Pinned above the wearer's left chest pocket are two marksman awards. Inscribed on the jacket's lining is "HQ.7268". Its reverse retains both, original belt hooks. Its manufacturer's label shows inspection by an apparent "_. R. WALTER" on "JAN. 12, 193_" (unfortunately, the inspector's first initial and year are too faint to discern). No size marking could be located but please refer to the Measurements section for more details.

This jacket is in fair, well used condition. Unfortunately, the wool exhibits significant mothing and the wearer's left armpit shows rodent damage; however, its insignia and awards appear to be completely untouched.
