Description

This is an original Vietnam War U.S. Air Force ribbon bar, consisting of the Good Conduct Medal and the Air and Space Longevity Service Award. The Good Conduct Medal was established for the Air Force (under Army control at the time) in 1941 and is still awarded to servicemen for three years of "honorable and faithful service", whereas the Air and Space Longevity Service Award was introduced on November 25, 1957, as an Air Force equivalent to the service stripes used by other branches of the United States military in order to denote four years of creditable service in the Air Force. The ribbon bar's reverse features a two-prong clutch back with clutches, both of which are marked "BALLOU REG'D", denoting production by B.A. Ballou & Co.
