Description
This is an original Vietnam War U.S. M-1 helmet set. It is decorated with an original Mitchell pattern camouflage helmet cover from the 8189 contract, dating its production to 1965. Secured around the helmet's circumference is an original elastic foliage band marked "DEL". The rear seam swivel loop helmet shell was manufactured by Ingersoll Rand Products and exhibits a lot number of "I - 7423". This is one of 3,174,296 helmets produced by Ingersoll from 1965 to 1968. The helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, texture, and OD#7 (green) chinstraps with black painted steel hardware. The chinstrap's buckle is stamped with a small anchor, while the brackets are stamped with bullseyes. The helmet's liner features black-painted steel A-washers and a September 25, 1968 dated OD#7 suspension. It comes complete with an original 1964-dated headband, named to "Don Riley". The liner's exterior retains its original olive drab factory finish. Adhered to its back is piece of nametape named to "Blount".
