Description
This is an original Korean War U.S. rear seam swivel loop M-1 helmet that was reissued for continued service during the Vietnam War. It's decorated with an original Mitchell pattern camouflage helmet cover marked "DSA100-69-F-U992", dating its production to 1969. Secured around the helmet's circumference is its original elastic foliage band. It's marked, presumably, with both the original owner's surname and nickname, "KANDA" and "TEX", respectively. The rear seam swivel loop helmet shell was manufactured by McCord Corp. of Detroit, Michigan and exhibits an apparent lot number of "M 56A", approximately dating its production from 1951 to 1953. It retains its original olive drab field repaint, texture, and OD#7 (green) chinstraps. The chinstraps exhibit blackened steel hardware and a "UC, 2" marked T1 buckle assembly, denoting production by United Carr.
