Description

This is an original Vietnam War U.S. ribbon bar, consisting of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one battle star, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960- date device. The first two of which were awarded by the U.S. to military personnel who served during any one of four specified periods of armed conflict or national emergency from June 27, 1950 onward and for service during the Vietnam War, respectively. The third ribbon was actually issued by the Republic of Vietnam to U.S. service members who either completed six months of service in Vietnam between 1961 and 1973 or if wounded, captured, or killed in action during the above period. With the fall of Saigon in 1975, this award only exhibited the 1960- date device with no end date. The ribbon bar's reverse features a two-prong clutch back.
