Description
This is an original WWI U.S. Army officer's private purchase uniform, consisting of an M1917 service tunic and breeches. Both pieces are constructed of a matching, lightweight wool, commonly seen among parade dress uniforms. The service tunic retains its original officer's collar insignia, 81st Field Artillery Battalion pins, red discharge chevron, and officer's braid on both cuffs. Stitched inside the tunic's interior pocket is an identification label; however, it does not appear to have ever been filled out. No manufacturer's or size labels could be located but please refer to the Measurements section for more details.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
Condition Report
For being well over one hundred years old, this uniform is in fair, well used condition. It is missing two of its vegetable ivory buttons on the tunic's placket and another two on the breeches' left leg. Both pieces exhibit mothing throughout.
