Description
This is an original WWI U.S. Army enlisted man's private purchase M1917 service tunic. It is constructed of a lightweight wool, commonly seen among parade dress uniforms. No manufacturer's or size label could be located but please refer to the Measurements section for more details. It shows evidence of a now-missing shoulder sleeve insignia patch, a discharge chevron underneath, followed by one service chevron on the wearer's left cuff (denoting six months of overseas service).
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
Condition Report
For being well over one hundred years old, this tunic is in fair, well used condition. It is missing one of its rimmed buttons on the placket. It exhibits mothing throughout and there are a couple small tears on the lining near the wearer's left armpit.
