Description
This is an original pair of WWI U.S. puttees. These were the predecessor to the canvas M-1938 leggings and would have been bound around the soldier's trousers down to their boot, providing both support and protection from dirt and debris. They are constructed of olive drab wool and have herringbone twill (HBT) leg ties.
