Description
This is an original pair of WWII German dienstglas 6x30 binoculars. These were produced by Voigtländer & Sohn of Braunschweig, Germany, and bear the factory code marking of "ddx", along with the serial number of "242587". The small blue "△" located to the right of the factory code signified that these binoculars were treated with a special lubricant allowing them to withstand temperatures down to -40°Cs and as high as 50°Cs. This marking was introduced in 1943 but was most commonly seen on binoculars produced during 1944. They come with their original leather carrying strap intact, however one retaining stud does not appear to have been properly fastened.
Provenance
Private Collection, Des Moines, Iowa
Condition Report
These binoculars are in good, used condition, with quite clear optics given their age.
