Description
This is an original WWII German dienstglas bakelite case for the 6x30 binoculars. Its interior is marked "T2", which denotes Type 2 materials (synthetic resin with asbestos and other organic fillers). The stylized "MD" was the official proof marking of the Materialpruefungsamt, a phenolic resin manufacturers' guild. The "OF" marking is that of its manufacturer, which unfortunately has yet to be positively identified. One of its leather straps is faintly embossed with the Waffenamt "WaA14".
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
