Description

This is an original WWII German first pattern Heer Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) pith helmet, constructed of a fabric-covered cork material. The leather headband is stamped size "58", while the underside is inscribed with the manufacturer's marking and production date, "B.K.41", respectively. Interestingly, the red lining had a functional intent; German engineers believed red material helped dissipate heat and is a common staple among DAK headwear. It still retains both of its original Heer and national colors badges.
