Description
This is an original WWII German M1931 helmet liner band. Its now-missing leather liner would have been a size 55, to be paired with a size 62 helmet shell. The zinc band showcases a dateless production stamp by Schuberth Werk, K.-G. Braunschweig. These dateless, linear logo bands are believed to have been produced by Schuberth Werk in 1940 as the transition from aluminum to zinc liner bands was taking place, making it an ideal candidate for an M40 helmet.
Provenance
Private Collection, Oberlin, Ohio
Condition Report
The zinc band is in good condition, with no signs of post-war paint applications.
