Description
This is an original WWII German M1931 helmet liner. The leather liner is a size 53 and is to be paired with a size 60 helmet shell. Its reinforced aluminum band showcases a 1939 production stamp by Metall-Lederverarbeitung Werner Zahn Berlin, Charlottenburg 5. Interestingly, size 60 helmets were among the least produced helmets during the war, making this an exceptionally uncommon find and a must-have for the collector with a lacking size 60 M35 helmet shell.
Provenance
Private Collection, Houston, Texas
Condition Report
The aluminum band is in good condition, with no signs of post-war paint applications and all of the leather liner's tongues remain intact. Its original drawstring, however, is missing and the rectangular chinstrap loops are slightly misshaped.
