Description
This is an original WWII German M40 single decal Heer helmet. The inside brim is size stamped "SE64", along with the apparent lot number of "1135", denoting production by the Sachsichse Emaillierwerke, Lauter factory. Following combat use, it underwent a wartime refurbishment, where the helmet was painted inside and out in a textured feldgrau finish and a new original Heer decal was applied. The interior retains its original zinc liner band. The split pins are all original and show no signs of tampering; however, its washers are missing - a common occurrence on reissued helmets.
Provenance
Private Collection, Louisville, Colorado
Condition Report
This helmet is in good, combat-used condition. The original feldgrau finish and decal are nearly fully intact. Unfortunately, much of the helmet's interior components are missing.
