Description

This is an original WWII German M40 single decal Heer helmet. The inside brim is size stamped "Q64", denoting production by the Quist, Esslingen factory. The rear skirt is hand painted with its original owner's name, "K. Eggers", which has somewhat concealed the lot number, with just "7_2" remaining legible. A search for the veteran in the Volksbund Grave Registry unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive. The helmet showcases its original feldgrau factory finish. The interior retains its original size 57 leather liner and chinstrap. The chinstrap exhibits a steel buckle and is stamped "Wilhelm, Eilers Jr., Bielefeld, 1941", while the liner is also inscribed with the original owner's name, "Eggers". The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.

Excellent

This helmet is in good, used condition. Unfortunately, however, the liner's leather exhibits rodent damage and is missing its drawstring. Quist decals are prone to yellowing or "toning" due to the lacquer used by this particular producer.
