Description
This is an original WWII German M42 ex-single decal Heer helmet. It exhibits a rather striking, textured feldgrau field repaint. Beneath the repaint, on the wearer's left side, is an apparent decal - likely that of the Heer. Unfortunately, the textured repaint has concealed the interior brim's factory, size, and lot number stampings. That said, the helmet has been measured and is a confirmed size 64. The interior retains its original, albeit damaged, pigskin leather liner and chinstrap remnants. Interestingly, the helmet appears to have been hastily repainted without removing the liner, as some paint was applied to its outer edge. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
Condition Report
This helmet is in fair, well used condition. The leather liner's stitching has failed at the rear, the chinstrap is torn, the drawstring is missing, and the crown's interior is rusted.
