Description

This is an original WWII German M42 ex-single decal Waffen-SS helmet. The inside brim is size stamped "EF66", along with the lot number of "3200", denoting 1943 production by the Emaillierwerke A.G., Fulda factory. Its original slate-grey textured factory finish is heavily worn, and embedded in the helmet's stamped ventilation holes are remnants of a whitewash winter camouflage. On the wearer's right side, the EF ᛋᛋ decal has been intentionally scraped away - likely done after November 1, 1943, coinciding with the order from German high command, directing the omission of ᛋᛋ decals from all helmets. The single example recorded in Brian Ice's German Helmet Lot Numbers 1935-1945 that shares the same model, manufacturer, size, and lot number, is also a single decal Waffen-SS. The interior retains its original leather liner, drawstring, and partial chinstrap. The chinstrap exhibits a grey painted steel buckle. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.

Provenance

In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.

Condition Report

Good

Excellent

This helmet is in good, combat-used condition. The leather liner retains all of its tongues. The chinstrap is partially missing. Although its decal has been removed, this helmet displays quite nicely, and is certainly in the same state as it was when the war ended.
