Description
This is an original WWII German M42 single decal Heer helmet. The inside brim is size stamped "EF66", along with the apparent lot number of "0407", denoting production by the Emaillierwerke A.G., Fulda factory. Atop its original feldgrau finish is the word "fern" in a Germanic style handwriting; this roughly translates to "distant, far-off, faraway, remote, etc." Unfortunately, its significance is unknown to us. The interior retains its original size 58 leather liner and chinstrap remnants. The leather that would have come in contact with the wearer's forehead is blood-stained; one can only imagine what this helmet has witnessed. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.

Private Collection, Dallas, Texas
Condition Report
This helmet is in very good, combat-used condition. Its original feldgrau factory finish and decal are nearly fully intact. Unfortunately, the leather chinstrap's longer side is torn, and the liner's drawstring is missing.
