Description
This is an original WWII German armband used by the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP), or National Socialist German Workers' Party. It exhibits a three-piece construction, with the armband, roundel, and swastika being separate, distinct pieces. Adhered to its reverse is an original paper tag from the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM), the Reich Ordnance Department. The tag is complete, with a “B” printed in blue ink, which was a tax code assigned to cotton products under the Third Reich. The manufacturer's marking has faded, but appears to read “A4/40”, with "No 346355" printed underneath. The ends are sewn together on the reverse. It measures approximately 7 3/4 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches tall.
Provenance
Private Collection, Bend, Oregon
