Description
This original WWII German oil pastel painting on paper (adhered to a heavy cardboard backing) depicts a member of the Heer, as evidenced by the collar tabs on his M40 tunic. The white waffenfarbe piping on his shoulder boards denotes service in the infantry. Atop his head is an M34 feldmütze overseas cap, with stacked insignia consisting of a Heer eagle and a cockade. The painting does not appear to exhibit an artist's signature. It measures, overall, approximately 11 1/2 inches wide and 15 1/2 inches tall.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
Condition Report
This painting is in good condition, with minor wear to the paper.
