Description
This original WWII German oil pastel painting on paper (adhered to a heavy cardboard backing) depicts a Luftwaffe Unterwachtmeister (non-commissioned officer sentinel), as evidenced by the set of two gullwing collar pins and rank tresse on his tunic. The red collar tabs denote service in a flak unit. Atop his head is an enlisted man's crusher cap. The painting does not appear to exhibit an artist's signature. It measures, overall, approximately 11 1/4 inches wide and 15 inches tall.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
Condition Report
This painting is in good condition, with minor wear to the paper.
