Description

This is an original WWII Imperial Japanese Army Type 90 helmet. During the war, it was common for Marines to remove and collect the five-pointed star badges from the helmets of the Japanese soldiers they killed. This example exhibits such an occurrence; however, the badge's outline still remains visible. The interior brim features the original hand painted kanji of "大", which indicates this is a large size helmet. Interestingly, beneath the painted kanji, a faint stamping of the same size marking is present, potentially indicating this helmet was reissued at some point. It retains its original leather liner and chinstrap.

Provenance

In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
