Description
This is an original WWII-Korean War U.S. 5th Air Force officer's uniform, consisting of a service jacket and trousers. Both pieces are constructed of matching summer-weight khaki material. The size 38R service jacket retains its original and rather striking bullion wire 5th Air Force shoulder sleeve insignia patch and a two-years overseas service patch on the cuff. On the opposite sleeve is a patch from the original owner's prior division, the 14th Air Force. Pinned above the wearer's left chest pocket is an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four battle stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and the American Campaign Medal. Pinned above the opposite pocket is a Presidential Unit Citation. Both the jacket and trousers feature matching tailor's labels, very faintly inscribed with their original owner's identification details. Unfortunately, we could not locate a size marking on the trousers but please refer to the Measurements section for more details. The trousers exhibit a WALDES zipper and TALON clasps.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This uniform was among those acquisitions.
