Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army five-cell grenade pouch, designed to be worn with a cartridge or M1936 pistol belt passing through its five loops. These were almost exclusively issued to the 27th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater of Operations and are considered by many collectors to be the scarcest piece of Army field gear. The reverse is marked "J.Q.M.D., 1944", denoting 1944 manufacture by Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Joshua Murray, Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Condition Report
This pouch is in excellent, unissued condition. All five of its unmarked "Lift-the-DOT" fasteners are intact and functional.
