Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army aeronautic first aid kit, as used by American paratroopers during Operations Husky and Overlord - the invasions of Sicily and Normandy, respectively. This variant is quite similar to Item No. 9776500 but differs in that it has no exterior compartment and horizontal strap, potentially indicating earlier production. It features a TALON zipper and four, female "STAR ☆ PULL" branded snaps which have been tied together with wire - likely to secure the first aid kit to a pair of suspenders. It comes complete with its original contents, consisting of a tourniquet, carlisle model small first aid dressing, several bandages, and medical tape. Interestingly, a needle has been pierced through the first aid kit's interior webbing.
