Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army Air Force enlisted man's service cap. Its original owner removed the cap's interior wire stiffener, allowing the hat to be reshaped and "crushed" into a silhouette more popular among American airmen. It is constructed of "chocolate" gabardine wool and features a russet brown leather visor and chinstrap. The front is decorated with a brass enlisted man's device. Unfortunately, no size tag or manufacturer's marking could be located, however, it has been measured and is a confirmed size 6 7/8.
Provenance
From the veteran's son, Pentwater, Michigan
Condition Report
This cap is in very good condition, with minimal signs of wear.
