Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army M1928 haversack. It was manufactured in 1942 by Felt Novelty Mfg. Co., Inc. of New York, New York. It is twice marked with its original owner's laundry number of "P-1403". A search of the National Archives unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive. Stapled nearby is its original "COMBAT SERVICEABLE" paper tag, which is marked "CAMP REYNOLDS, PA.". This haversack retains its original, matching mess kit pouch (also known as a "meat can").
