Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army M1941 wool knit cap, commonly known as the jeep cap. With its short, cardboard-filled visor, these were designed to be worn under the M-1 helmet and were standard issue throughout the Army - worn by paratroopers and airmen alike. This particular example is a size small. The visor's underside appears to be marked with its original owner's laundry number; however, it is unfortunately illegible. The interior of the cap is marked "X-7".
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
Condition Report
This cap is in good, used condition, with its original size label still intact and legible. The wool knit does exhibit some damage, though.
