Description
This is an original, and rather uncommon, WWII U.S. M1943 field pack. The M1943 saw extensive use in the European Theater of Operations, particularly during the Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland Campaign. It was produced in 1944 by Breslee Mfg. Co. of New York, New York. The main flap is marked presumably with the original owner's hometown, state and last four digits of their Army Service Number, "OKMULGEE, OKLAHOMA" and "9574", respectively.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
Condition Report
This field pack is in good, well used condition. Unfortunately, the left vertical strap is torn (shown in the fifth image). Additionally, the two shorter straps were intentionally removed from the suspenders, allowing its use without a belt - a common modification.
