Description
This is an original WWII U.S. Army enlisted man's shirt. It is constructed of a khaki cotton twill material. Its manufacturer's label has unfortunately faded beyond legibility. It is a size 14 x 32 but please refer to the Measurements section for more details. It retains its original Army Service Forces shoulder sleeve insignia patch, matching set of technical sergeant rank insignia patches, and on the wearer's left cuff, a one-year overseas service patch. Inscribed beneath the shirt's collar are the laundry numbers of two different servicemen, "G-0885" and "H-2403". A search of the National Archives unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive. Marked on the placket's interior is "Gasney arsenal 13177" and a dry cleaner's marking of "22056-A".
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
