Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner. It was produced by Capac Manufacturing Company of Capac, Michigan. Interestingly, the liner appears to have been twice stamped, with a second, faint manufacturer's marking located above and to the right. It features parkerized steel A-washers and an OD#3 (khaki) suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. It comes complete with its original headband and neckband. The liner's exterior showcases an original olive drab field repaint.
Provenance
Private Collection, Dallas, Texas
Condition Report
This helmet liner is in good, used condition. The suspension is intact; however, one of the snaps on the neckband has pulled away from the fabric and the headband's leather shows consistent wear.
