Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner. It was produced by Capac Manufacturing Company of Capac, Michigan. It features green painted steel A-washers and an OD#3 (khaki) suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. It comes complete with its original, albeit damaged, green buckled leather chinstrap and a recently installed headband and neckband. "OE" is stenciled in black paint on the exterior's original olive drab factory finish. Unfortunately, its significance is unknown to us.
Provenance
Private Collection, Cypress, Texas
Condition Report
This helmet liner is in good, used condition. The suspension is strong and intact; however, the liner's exterior shows signs of wear.
