Description
This is an original matching set of WWII U.S. M-1 helmet chinstraps, consisting of steel hardware and OD#7 (green) webbing. The buckle is the flat version. Interestingly, the line of stitching securing the J-hook has been partially severed, giving the chinstraps enough length to fasten at the rear of an M-1 helmet. This set was recovered from a late-war Schlueter Manufacturing Co. swivel loop helmet but would have also been seen on comparable McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. examples.
Provenance
Private Collection, Silver Spring, Maryland
Condition Report
These haven't been cut, only their stitching has been undone, meaning these are still their original length. One strap has a tear approximately halfway through the webbing.
