Description
This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner headband was produced by George Frost Co. It features the double wire buckle variation and the first version of the spring clip, which has a straight edge and holes in the metal, dating the headband's production to early-1942. The leather is marked with the original owner's name and serial number, an apparent "Edward Gruendler, 23914028". This would be an ideal headband for all helmet liners with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and low-pressure liners).
Provenance
Private Collection, York, Pennsylvania
