Description
This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner headband was produced by L. & N. Specialties. The hardware is green painted steel, approximately dating the headband's production from mid-1942 to late-1943. It exhibits third pattern spring clips, which have a fold in the metal's bottom edge. This would be an ideal headband for a helmet liner with either non-painted or green painted steel A-washers.
Provenance
Private Collection, Ogden, Utah
Condition Report
This headband is in fair, well used condition. Generally, the leather remains pliable; however, there is some cracking throughout. The fabric near the spring clips is rust stained and weakened.
