Description

This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner headband was produced by L. & N. Specialties. It is twice marked with the original owner's name, an apparent "Ed Haiflich". A search of the National Archives unfortunately did not reveal a match. The hardware is green painted steel, approximately dating the headband's production from mid-1942 to late-1943. It exhibits third pattern spring clips, which have a fold in the metal's bottom edge. This would be an ideal headband for a helmet liner with either non-painted or green painted steel A-washers.
