Description
This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner neckband was manufactured by Gem-Dandy, Inc. It is a size medium and exhibits blackened brass United Carr snaps. Brass snaps were utilized for a short time in mid-1942 and then were reintroduced in late-1943 due to brass no longer being considered a scarce material. This would be ideal for a helmet liner with either green painted steel or blackened brass A-washers.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
Condition Report
This neckband is in good, used condition. All four snaps are intact, the fabric is strong, and its manufacturer's marking remains legible.
