Description
This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner neckband was produced by Lapeer Fabricators, Inc. in 1945. This neckband exhibits blackened brass United Carr snaps. Brass snaps were utilized for a short time in mid-1942 and then were reintroduced in late-1943 due to brass no longer being considered a scarce material. This would be an ideal neckband for a helmet liner with blackened brass A-washers.
Provenance
Private Collection, New Castle, Pennsylvania
Condition Report
This neckband is in good, used condition. All four snaps are intact, and the fabric is strong.
