Description

Given the nature of oil-based paints, we're afraid these are only available to ship to U.S. addresses via USPS Ground Advantage. This listing is for a single original unopened can of WWII U.S. M-5 Type II liquid vesicant gas detecting paint, however two are available. This paint was commonly used by U.S. invasion forces as a method of camouflaging their helmets, jeeps, and other equipment. When the normally brownish green paint would come into contact with chemical weapons it would turn pinkish red, warning the troops of the presence of gas. Both are dated October 26, 1942.

Provenance

In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. These were among those acquisitions.

These cans of paint are in fair condition. Each can still contains 4 fluid ounces. Although the exteriors are corroded, we have no reason to believe the functionality of the paint has been compromised.
