Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M1916 holster for the M1911 pistol. On its reverse, it is stamped "SEARS", denoting production by the Sears Saddlery Co. of Davenport, Iowa. A large number of Sears holsters exhibit no production date marking, which is believed to have been omitted following its 1942 production run. In 1948, the U.S. Army transitioned from brown leather field gear to black, and much of its existing stock was re-dyed. This holster is constructed of leather that has undergone such a re-dying process (likely during the Korean or Vietnam War) and exhibits a steel hanger.
Provenance
In July of 2025, Gustafson's acquired the inventory of Circa1941. This piece was among those acquisitions.
Condition Report
This holster is in good, used condition, with its leather remaining pliable.
