Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M1941 field jacket. The M1941 was the most prevalent field jacket during WWII and was utilized by all branches of the Armed Services. Its outer shell is constructed of an OD#3 (khaki) cotton material, with a "mustard" color wool flannel lining. Its manufacturer's label has unfortunately faded beyond legibility, and its size label has since been removed but please refer to the Measurements section for more details, as it is quite large. Inscribed on the collar is its original owner's full name, "JOHN P. DUNN". A search of the National Archives unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
Condition Report
This jacket is in good, used condition. The collar and cuffs are well worn and there are several small holes throughout; however, all of its original buttons remain intact, and the original TALON zipper still functions.
