Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet set. The front seam fixed loop helmet shell was manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. of Detroit, Michigan. The lot number is concealed beneath the interior's field repaint; however, judging by the earlier style fixed loops and cast-brass buckle carried over from the M1917A1, it likely dates from mid-1941 to mid-1942. In addition to the original field repaint, the helmet retains its original cork texture and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps with brass hardware. The interior is marked with a surname and number, an apparent "Moonswamy, 9181". The helmet's liner was produced by Capac Manufacturing Company of Capac, Michigan. It features parkerized steel A-washers and an OD#3 suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. The suspension comes complete with its original headband, neckband, and damaged leather chinstrap. Like the steel shell, the helmet liner is painted with the same field repaint, showcasing their long history together as a set.
