Description
This is an original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet set. The front seam fixed loop helmet shell was manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. of Detroit, Michigan and exhibits a lot number of "592A", approximately dating its production to mid-1943. The helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps with brass J-hook and flat steel buckle. The steel helmet's interior brim has some white paint residue that was transferred to it from its helmet liner, showcasing their long history together as a set. The liner was produced by Capac Manufacturing Company of Capac, Michigan. It features green-painted steel A-washers and an OD#3 suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The suspension comes complete with its original George Frost Co. double wire headband and neckband.
