Description

This is an original WWII U.S. front seam fixed loop M-1 helmet shell. It was manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. of Detroit, Michigan and exhibits a lot number of "61B", approximately dating its production from mid-1941 to early-1942. The helmet retains an original olive drab field repaint, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps with a cast-brass buckle carried over from the M1917A1 and a particularly short J-hook side strap, often seen on the earliest helmets. Interestingly, this helmet's chinstrap was updated, likely in late-1944 or 1945, with a T1 buckle assembly.
