Description
This is an original WWII U.S. front seam fixed loop M-1 helmet shell. It was manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co. of Detroit, Michigan. The lot number is concealed beneath the interior's field repaint; however, judging by the earlier style fixed loops, it likely dates from mid-1941 to mid-1942. The helmet retains an original olive drab field repaint, cork texture, and field-applied OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps with brass hardware - the longer of which was actually applied invertedly.
