Description
This original and exceptionally rare WWII U.S. M-1 helmet shell resulted from the partnership between Parish Pressed Steel Co. and Reading Hardware Corp., both of Reading, Pennsylvania. Parish-Reading helmets account for less than half of 1% of all M-1 helmets produced during the war (Circa1941, 2022). It exhibits a unique lot number of "P2B", approximately dating its production from June to August of 1945. It retains its original olive drab field repaint and cork texture.
Provenance
Private Collection, Iron Station, North Carolina
Condition Report
This helmet shell is in fair, well used condition. There is surface rust throughout and several stress cracks at both the front and rear of the helmet. Unfortunately, its chinstraps are missing; however, should the new owner decide to faithfully restore it, Parish-Reading helmets left the factory with this style of chinstraps.
